Zambian-Theme Welcome Reception, 10 September 2025

The Zambian-Theme Welcome Reception is a culturally rich event designed to greet delegates with traditional Zambian hospitality. Featuring local music, dance, and attire, the reception showcases Zambia’s diverse cultural heritage while offering a warm, inclusive environment for international guests to connect. Local cuisine is typically served, and the atmosphere highlights community values and national pride.

General Assembly Day One, 11 September 2025

The 35th GWI General Assembly will commence on 11 September 2025 with a formal opening that includes addresses from the GWI President, the President of the Zambia Association of University Women, and other distinguished guests. Following the keynote presentations, Business Sessions 1 and 2 will address critical administrative matters including the introduction of delegates, the confirmation of quorum, and the adoption of the agenda and rules of procedure. Reports on the 2023–2025 Strategic Plan, financial reviews, and committee activities will be presented, providing members with a comprehensive overview of GWI’s progress and strategic direction. The afternoon will feature further reports from Board officers, standing committees, and UN representatives, concluding with a caucus to discuss upcoming resolutions.

General Assembly Day Two, 12 September 2025

Day two will open with a facilitated panel discussion, setting the tone for a series of essential decision-making sessions. Business Sessions 4 and 5 will cover the election results for the President, Vice Presidents, and Treasurer, followed by the presentation and approval of the 2025–2026 budget. Members will engage in discussions and voting on internal resolutions, policy resolutions, and constitutional amendments. The day will conclude with the formal closure of the General Assembly, including the announcement of newly elected Board and Committee members and the official opening of the new Triennium.

Public Conference Day 3, 13 September 2025

Complementing the formal proceedings, the public conference on 13 September will offer an array of workshops and seminars organized around five critical subthemes: 1) Education and empowerment for women in diverse contexts and their link to sustainable futures; 2) Future scenarios integrating education, culture, gender, and economic systems; 3) Examination of gender-based cultural barriers affecting gender equity in education; 4) The role of intergenerational and community relationships in achieving growth and sustainability; and 5) The impact of technology, AI, and innovation in empowering women for the future.
